Overnight Wild Camp (Rain)

Duration: 1 day | Distance: 14 km | Apr 19 2025

Went to my local favorite forest and camped overnight.

Hiked to camp during the day and set up camp early afternoon. Spent a bit of time looking for a good, hidden sport for my camp. Camping is allowed here but I prefer stealth so I feel removed from civilization (this is often hard in Denmark).

Walked a bit around and filled my water bottles at a tap. Cooked dinner and read a bit before bed.

Next day it started raining in the morning. I had a long cozy morning by the tent. Then slowly packed down camp and walked out.

My original goal with this trip was to cowboy camp. But the weather was very wet so I decided against it.

Overall a fine small trip even though I did not reach my goal.

Gear

  • Tent
  • Full gear setup as I did not plan to hike far with my backpack

Notes

  • If I am just going to camp I should bring better food. I relied on easy dehydrated food on this quick trip but I would have preferred better food. Weight isn’t much of an issue when I’m not hiking far and only staying one night.
    • I also had plenty of time to cook
  • My big rain poncho is really nice to have when it rains. I have been considering whether it is worth the weight (324g) but now I lean more towards bringing it. It may also work as ground sheet if I’m tarp camping?
  • This is the first time I camped in rain with my new tent (X-Mid 2 Solid) and the ability to take down the inner tent first is great. I was able to pack down everything and then just have the outer tent standing as the last thing — to shelter me from the rain.
